How to Learn Who You Are

mental health self-care values Aug 01, 2021

Many of us cannot answer the question “Do you know who you are?” We get embarrassed when we think about it and when we cannot answer this question. It’s completely okay as we just have to learn to look at it. To evaluate it to better know us. To better know what is at the top of our priorities.  And what we really want instead to be our priorities of life instead of what we are currently putting our efforts into.

For example, we work work work. We identify with our jobs yet we know this is not the top value of our lives.  We struggle internally as we know our jobs are not the most important aspect of our lives and want our lives to look different than they currently are.   We have identified what we are currently doing is not working yet do not know where to start.  We start by completing our list of values and morals.  And if we are "workaholics" we see that we are putting our work first yet it doesn't even make the top 5 on our values and morals list.  Can you see how we are struggling with our lives?

This is how we start to change us. List it out! Know it as truth! And everyday strive to look at your list and see if you are completing the day as you feel you should with putting first what is the most important to you. Then you will be able to lay your head on your pillow at night knowing you did the best you could for the day by meeting your values and morals.  We now have a road map to guide the daily journey.  No more worrying about “I should be doing x -y-z.” List out your values and morals to better understand who you are. You got this! And if you get lost on this, utilize the template attached here.

Be sure and prioritize your list as I'm going to so you a cool trick to do with this list later.  For an example, I will share the top 3 of my list.  My list starts with #1: To be a good and loving example as His daughter and share healing with as many as I can for the betterment of His kingdom and for His children to know peace and joy on this earth (This is one is complex I know... Can be as simplex as complex as you want).  #2: That I am equally yoked with my husband and loving him as such.  #3: My children know Him and I show them this love through my love and guidance.

These are my examples to help you see how you can format it.  Again this is just my example.  Do you!  Dig deep and start to really understand fundamentally who you are.  And if you are one of the ones who truly doesn't know where to start at all, how cool as you can choose today to chose who ever you want to be!  Once you start to envision who you want to be, write down what it would mean to have the values and morals attached.  You can be fluid on this list... You change and so can the list.  Once you truly know who you are, you can more easily make decisions.  You determine who you are and outside influence becomes less powerful.

If you want to work more on this and truly understand how to utilize this list, consider partnering with me in my signature course, Revival.  It's a game changer once you see this everyday in your head and use it for big and small decisions and while evaluating you.

With love & gratitude,
