About Me!

Welcome to my page!  I’m so excited you are visiting with me!

My name is Stephanie Burnett.  I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse (Practitioner), board-certified Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL), author, speaker, expert in holistic mental health with over a decade of experience, and award-winning nurse.  But I haven’t always been this high achieving…  I have devoted my career to the study of mental health, addiction, and process improvements of healthcare systems.  I have published significant findings on these subjects in leading peer-reviewed health journals and within my book “Let Your Soul Shine: how changing perspectives changes you.

My clinical practice combines aspects of traditional mental health care including medication and supportive therapy while also integrating the associated practices of naturopathic, functional medicine, and Eastern/Western healing.  I specialize in stress reduction techniques including mindfulness, guided imagery, deep breathing, and qigong.  I am an internally board-certified Tai Chi instructor and Clinical Aromatherapist.  I LOVE working in my private practice and helping people every day!

I thrive in helping people to learn how to better handle stress, anxiety, depression, and traumas within their lives.  I have helped thousands of people to learn how to find their own individual journey of recovery, peace, and joy.  I do this by helping people to identify and gain insight common areas that they are struggling in while learning new coping skills.  It’s a fun and rewarding challenge!

My hope with this blog is to present ideas and topics I have found that most people struggle with including myself.  I am passionate about bringing the concepts I have found success in and helped other with to the masses!  I am especially passionate about supporting women ( especially nurses, other caregivers, and women of faith) and our well-being.  I would love to connect with this community via this blog!  Nursing is rated as one of the top stressful occupations yet there are minimal wellness programs and support for this community.  I hope to drop some helpful tips here and support you as our health is critical for us, our families, and the public who visit the systems that we serve.

Above are my goals; however, my growth and style is every evolving!  I hope we all are able to grow with each other and have some fun on this journey together!  Please feel free to reach out to my if you have comments, concerns or questions.  Thank you all in advance for this opportunity on my new journey!

More About Me:

As a Master’s prepared Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL), I was trained to identify gaps in care at the micro and macrosystem levels.  I developed, co-created, and implemented several system changes due to data analysis and staff/patient satisfaction levels.  It has been so much fun to be a nurse during this innovative time!  These programs I have had the pleasure to be associated with include Nursing Enrichment: Wellness for the Nurse, Mental Health Nursing Orientation, co-creation of a “Whole Health” workbook, Community Garden and Greenhouse Program, interdisciplinary monthly topic discussions, an educational program on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and many other endeavors to enhance services to patients and staff.  Due to these process improvements, I have presented at multiple conferences and received numerous awards.  My most precious and humbling awards including being chosen as a 2019 Arkansas Great 100 Nurse and chosen as a 2017 Arkansas Center for Nursing’s 40 Nurse Leaders Under 40.

It wasn’t always this way for me.  My parents were afraid I would be “not amount to much” in my life as I was not an upstanding citizen as a teenager or young adult.  My life included drugs, alcohol, getting into trouble with the law, and hanging around folks who were not adding to the value of the community.  Turns out I did all these things because I didn’t know how to cope with life.  Who knew 😉.  I’m a firm believer God puts people and animals in our lives at the right time for the right reason.  You just have to be wiling to listen.  I will share more of my journey later in this blog.  I just want you to know I ended up working in mental health for a reason.  It saved my life.

I live in Arkansas with my soul mate and best friend Jon (loved this guy since we were kids), our three beautiful kids, Jon Michael, Adaline, and Silas, and our rescue horses and dogs.  I am loving this season right now and oh so grateful that I want to share my message with the world so others may be able to see their way of a new season of living too!

With love & gratitude,

Stephanie
